One-on-One Treatment Sessions

Occupational Therapy sessions are tailored to meet individual children’s needs through developing goals closely with parents, teachers, therapists and other allied health professionals. Treatment goals are achieved through involvement in a variety of activities to enhance your child’s learning. This provides them with the tools for learning as well as strategies to assist with their performance during school and in the home environment. Therapy sessions are conducted in a fun and positive environment in our specialised sensory integration clinic and/or the school environment to assist your child in reaching their true potential run by our experienced Occupational Therapists.

Social Skills Program

This program is aimed primarily at students to develop a full repertoire of skills critical to functioning in everyday life. As children develop they are required to interact and develop relationships with family members, peers, teachers and other people in a variety of different settings. At the extremes some children are able to navigate through any social encounter effortlessly whilst others lack the motivation to use positive social behaviours whilst interacting with others.

Consistent negative interactions with peers due to reduced social skills can affect every aspect of a child’s life and can lead to behavioural difficulties, the inability to attend, concentration difficulties, peer rejection and difficulties making friends, poor self esteem and decreased academic results.

Kids OT Social Skills Group program covers a range of different topics including:

  • Listening to others
  • Following directions
  • Following classroom rules
  • Ignoring peer distractions
  • Asking for help
  • Learning to read and give social cues
  • Participating in conversations
  • Cooperating with others
  • Conflict situations and controlling temper
  • Acting responsibly
  • Showing kindness
